Life on the Water

There hasn't really been much time to quilt lately. . . I seem to spend time collecting fabrics for when I DO have time to quilt.  But I did get a few things finished.  I started Dana's quilt last June.  It was a little more complicated and time-consuming than I initially thought, especially since I kept enlarging it.  But here's the finished quilt - - - The name says it all!  Dana, the mother of 3 boys needs to slow down sometimes. Here's the overview. I think she liked it! QUILTS FOR KIDS I've done about 10 quilts for this organization in the past couple of  years.  They are easy sizes and go together fast.  Many times I use the extra fabric from baby quilts and other projects. Here are some of them: Early this year I read in the newsletter that Quilts for Kids really needed quilts for teenage boys.  Wow, this is something I can really sink my teeth into.  I have fabrics from pillowcases, the grandsons pajama pants I made...

Driftwood is a 31 foot Devlin wooden boat that lives in it's very own boathouse not far from Olympia Washington.  It's a long drive for us to get up there from Northern California so we plan 2-3 week long trips.  The March trip was COLD!  And rainy!  But we lucked out and had a few nice days just in the time frame we needed to take the boat to Seattle for some electronics updates.  The cruise was easy and gorgeous with black dolphins, otters, sea lions and eagles to see along the way.  We spent 4 nights in Shilshole Marina and were able to walk to restaurants.  Hydro did great during the boating but he does take up most of floor space in the boat.  On our way back we spent a night in Gig Harbor, Washington.  It was so beautiful cruising around all these islands and exploring that I really didn't want to go back to the boathouse.   But. . . Spring Break was coming up really soon so we had to get back, quickly go through mail, pay bills...

I'm going to update this blog a little at a time and focus on some of the quilts I've made.  Many  of the forum members have blogs under their names.  I'm joining the crowd.  Any of you out there that would rather not follow this can opt out.  Fair warning given - - -
