Although the name is the same, I'm going to change the format of this blog a little. As a safety net, I will use it keep followers informed of our cruising plans and locations while on our boat, Konocti Bay. Last year as we were cruising through some very isolated areas of Canada, it was clear that we planned with the winds, weather, charts and tides and most of the time no one knew where we were. Probably not a great idea. . . .
I'm not sure how many followers are on this blog, nor how these come to you. However, I'm hoping a few are following at times. Please take a moment to reply, send an email or text so I have an idea who I need to invite to view the postings. Also, if you don't care to read this blog, just figure out how to delete yourself. It won't hurt my feelings. I tried, but it doesn't seem obvious from my perspective (and should be easy, right?).
We are back in Washington now - blustery and cool and rainy at times. We were greeted by our dock neighbors, Jane and Bob, with welcoming smiles and another friend, Lynda from Sonoma, CA, walked over from her dock. So nice to feel welcome. It took 5 cartloads to get all the things back on the boat! That's a lot when it's about 1/4 mile one way from truck parking to boat. Still one or two cartloads waiting. When we left the end of October, I stripped all the linens and any perishable foods off the boat so I had to bring them all back. Big job. We left a couple of heaters on low and the dehumidifier running and had a company checking on the boat weekly or whenever the weather turned (as well as our wonderful dock neighbors!). I was so happy to see no problems other than a little dust to clean up. Moving in is mostly complete except for some of Ed's projects that he built at home and will install over the next week.
After doing some things on the boat, spending time in Anacortes and visiting with friends, the boat will come out of the water for bottom paint and a few other things on May 1st, if the weather permits. We will be in a motel for a few days (very pet friendly!) then back on the water. This relatively short Washington trip will find us in the South Sound visiting with our Shelton Yacht Club friends more than any long distance travels. It sounds relaxing to me.
